The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra was founded in February 1998 and is based in Vienna, although it plays concerts around the world. The orchestra performs its music playing only on instruments made of vegetables such as carrot flutes, pumpkin basses, leek violins, leek-zucchini-vibrators, cucumberophones and celery bongos.
The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra actually uses the vegetables for thier concerts in more than one way. Vegetable parts that are left over after creating the instruments are made into a vegetable soup which is served to the audience after the concert. The actual instruments (and other remaining vegetables) are also given to the audience after the concert. Anything remaining after that is turned into organic waste.
